Here is the translation for this little cannon in the middle of the Palais Royal garden :
1786 : Mr Rousseau, watchmaker at 96 Beaujolais gallery, decided to ring midday for people around in shooting with his little cannon which was just on the Paris meridian. A magnifyng glass
was suppose to light the streak when the sun was shining.
1799 : The cannon was deplaced in the middle of the garden. He had been active until 1914.
1990 : The cannon is active again every wednesday at midday.
Written in Latin on it : I only ring lucky hours !
